Ancient History

So as long as we are talking about the past let's not leave out the day and a half in June we had with Michele, Kelvin, Rachael and Janelle.  Emily was still in school but the rest of us were on vacation.

We took the ferry to Port Townsend.  Where would you want to go with the Townsend's?  It was kind of chilly but the photos of Whidbey Island were picture perfect.

And across to Port Townsend as well.

Janelle, Rachael and Michele.

Rachael is not impressed.

We were short on time so we had pizza and then ran back to the ferry when it started raining.
You can not see it from this photo but there was a nuclear submarine being escorted into Bremerton by four navy ships. It was so awesome and in all the times we have been in this exact place, this was something we had never seen.

The rain let up and we visited Fort Casey.  We went into the lighthouse and explored the fort.

Rachael and Janelle in the watchtower.  The entire time we were at Fort Casey the submarine was slowly sailing by.

They tried to scare us but Michele and I avoided their little scheme.  We had to be back to pick up Emily for her late afternoon dance dress rehearsal.  Although they didn't get to see the real deal it was nice to have some family see what Emily does in her spare time.  Lonny took the opportunity to look at boats with Kelvin of course.  It was a quick trip but we had a good time spending the day with the Bailey's.
