Can you hear me now?

It would help if I knew what questions to ask. I read in the Church News that President Monson spoke at a BYU devotional in January. Eric has never been in the same room as the prophet until then. He was there but he didn't mention it when he called. I asked. Later. Eric also has a new roommate this semester. I knew that but I just recently asked where he was from. Wasilla, Alaska. Uh, yeah I have heard of that. Apparently his roommate went to school with the Palin children. Umm, yes, Eric I might have found that interesting. This lack of knowledge reminds me of the time we had a babysitter in Seattle. It had to have been 20 years ago but I remember coming home and everything appearing normal but over the course of a few days finding sugar everywhere. Everywhere. The couch cushions. Their beds. The babysitter had taught the kids to stick their finger in their mouth and then in the sugar bowl. I thought for a long time after that, how was I supposed to know that before I left I should have told my children don't stick your finger in your mouth and then put it in the sugar bowl. Who knew?

Eleven year old available

I painted Emily's closet. Her clothes are hanging in Geoff's closet so I had to get it done before he comes home and notices.

Look how clean it is without all her junk (I meant stuff in the nicest way) in there. Her closet is not what she wanted me to paint. She has grown out of her adorable room. We are thinking about moving her out and keeping the bedroom. The main reason we built this house and moved here was because we didn't know where to put Emily. We lived in a four bedroom house and when Emily came along there was no room in the inn. Well maybe there was room in the inn but there was no logical place for Emily to claim in our house. Should we put her with her 16 year old brother or her 14 year old sister? Her 6 and 9 year old brother were already sharing a room and besides that didn't make sense either. So for the first two years of her life she shared a room with Lonny and I or slept in the den. When she was two we moved into this house where she may have been the only two year old with a walk-in closet and bathroom. Now she is almost 12 and she thinks she has grown out of this room. She does have the whole upstairs to herself but not for long. Geoff and Eric will both be back and I doubt they would look kindly on their little sister taking over their room.

So would you want to paint over this? It's either Emily or this room. I'll have to think about it.

OK, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain

The thought crossed my mind that I should water the flowers. It hadn't rained in awhile. Well, and then yesterday happened. Here in Oklahoma we don't go by the same theory as the Northwest. There, the rain is sprinkled (what?) throughout the year. Falling ever so gently over time.

We get our rain here in just 10 or 20 doses.
By the bucketful. And with thunder, lightning, tornadoes and flooding thrown in as if getting drenched wasn't enough excitement. We don't brag about the weather here. We could because we have our good days.

I am not sure they make up for the others. I would tell you we didn't need this last night but then that might jinx us. Just because Armageddon occasionally appears to be eminent there was no reason to panic.

Giddy-up Pardner!

I traveled to west Texas last weekend to see this cute little cowboy and his sister.

I delivered the quilt I made mostly out of shirts for little Colton. That's the only way I could find blue plaids. It took me so long that he probably will still have it to take to college. When I was home bound from the ice storm, sewing kept me from sledding.

I had never been to Jen and Jon's and there were many times I just thought I was lost. One time in particular I was pretty confident I actually was lost. The next thing I knew I came across an entire landscape of camels. I thought to myself, am I supposed to see camels on this little adventure? Apparently so since I did arrive at my intended destination. Welcome to Texas!

Happy Birthday Jenny!

I would just like to nominate you for best big sister ever. I never could have imagined that you at age 14 would love your little sister as much as you do. And sorry for the nearly 12 year old picture, but I did just see you 2 days ago and you pretty much look the same. That's a complement. (Emily on the other hand. . . ) I hope you have a great day!

Thanks, Dave.

Even I have to admit I have been to a lot of concerts over the past year. Last night I saw Celine Dion and I just have to say, she can sing. I sat with Lindsey, Lisa and Jill which made it even better. Lisa, Jill and I were in the YW presidency for 4 or 5 years together. I am not sure how long, I lost count. The time always flew by when we were in the same room. Jill is Lindsey's mom. (She forgave me when I brought Lindsey home from our youth conference to Nauvoo with a broken arm among other injuries.) It was probably five years ago that we all use to talk about how we were going to save our money and go see Celine Dion together in Las Vegas. That never happened. Lindsey saved her money but then she spent it on something else. Ridiculous, I know. Lindsey's Dad bought all the tickets for us to go last night. I think he deserves his own plate of chocolate chip cookies.
