Climb every mountain

and you are going to have sore legs and feet. Speaking from personal experience here. The day we went on "The Sound of Music" tour in Salzburg may however have been the only day mountain climbing was not on the schedule. I confess, I love that Von Trapp family musical but apparently Maria was singing the hills are alive when she heard the church bells and came running to the Abbey, a mere 15 km jaunt. Okay, so accuracy wasn't the primary motive. I can live with that.

Here are some Townsend children in Mirabell Gardens with their rendition of
"ray, a drop of golden sun". . .(we actually had lots of drops of rain on us) or tea, a drink with jam and bread. . .(which by the way was on the menu every single morning, okay
true confessions, no tea for me.)

The offspring don't like to have their picture taken but they gave me no choice when they attempted to reenact the entire movie.

And here's the whole family with a view of the palace which portrayed the back of the Trapp villa. The front of their villa was the Frohnburg Castle which was across town. Neither belonged to the Trapp family.

And here's the Cathedral for the movie wedding in the unbelievably beautiful town of Mondsee. It's not the church where the Baron and Fraulein Maria actually said their vows. Who knew the Catholic Church didn't want their Nonnberg Abbey's adjacent cathedral immortalized in the Hollywood's classic from 1965? I don't know what they were thinking. Surely the couple would not have minded being joined together in matrimony here. It was lovely and exactly as I remembered. I think I'll watch the movie just to recall every minute detail the guide threw out.

Gorgeous! How fun for y'all. Nice to know the kids can "act".
